1999 Submitted by Bob Spargalo "It felt great, I didn't believe it until everyone started cheering and hugging me," said Wood, whose team-mates include both his mother Loretta and father William. "I was in the pocket all night and just kept going through the same motion." Wood, 20, joins Jeremy Sonnenfeld and Tony Roventini as the only bowlers to roll an ABC-approved 900 series. Sonnenfeld rolled the first perfect series February 2, 1997 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, NE, also at the age of 20. Roventini became the first left-hander to roll a 900 series on November 9, 1998 at Classic Lanes in Greenfield, WI. Wood's three consecutive 300 games brought his career ABC-approved total to 16. The full-time student, who turns 21 October 13, currently holds a 237 average and has 11 career 800 series with 842 as his previous high. Wood recently placed sixth in the all events category at the 1999 ABC Tournament in Syracuse, NY. He has also appeared twice in the Intercollegiate Bowling Championships as a member of the California State University-Fullerton squad.
