  • Here is where you can find out what the duties of the various Board positions are.

 PRESIDENT

The President of the Association is elected on a term for 2 years. He/she is able to run for a consecutive 2 year term at which time he/she is to step down and become the Past President. However, after being past president for 2 years, he/she may run again for the office of the president.

DUTIES OF THE PRESIDENT

  1. Be the chief executive officer of the association
  2. Preside at all meetings of the board and the council of delegates
  3. See to the enforcement of the objects and provisions of the ABC Constitution.
  4. When so instructed by the board, sign and endorse all cheques drawn by the secretary/treasurer.
  5. Arrange for a quarterly audit of the association accounts to verify that the proper amount is on deposit. He shall also arrange for an annual audit of the association finances by an auditing committee or and auditing firm.
  6. Within 30 days after the annual audit, arrange to have the association secretary submit the audited membership report to the ABC executive director on a form provided by the ABC.
  7. Appoint one or more representatives to serve in a joint capacity with an equal number of representative’s from the WIBC Local association to oversee certification and lane dressing inspection.
  8. Be Ex-officio of all committees.
  9. Attend all functions that the board requires him/her to attend as the association’s representatives unless someone else is appointed.
  10. Along with the Line Officers of the association, appoint the committees for each season during the month of May and schedule the meetings for the upcoming season.
  11. Be a co-signer on all association accounts.

VICE PRESIDENTS

The association shall have 4 vice presidents that are elected for a term of 2 years. The number of consecutive terms is not limited.

DUTIES OF THE VICE PRESIDENTS.

  1. In the abuse of the president, the vice president next in numerical order shall do the duties of the president.
  2. All Vice Presidents shall serve as committee chairpersons as appointed by the president and line officers of the association.
  3. The 1st Vice president shall be ex-officio of all committees.

SECRETARY-TREASURER

The secretary-treasurer of the association shall be elected for 5-year term of office. The number of consecutive term is unlimited.

DUTIES OF THE SECRETARY-TREASURER

  1. Perform those duties assigned by the president, council of delegates and board of directors.
  2. Keep for permanent record, an account of the proceedings of all meetings of the association and that shall always by available to and the property of the association.
  3. Conduct all correspondence of the association including notices to members of meetings of the board or council. (Board Meeting Notice: 10 Days, Council of delegates Meetings: 14 days)
  4. Certify the delegates and alternates of the association to the ABC Executive Director as provided in the ABC Constitution.
  5. Receive, receipt, record, and report all dues, fees, monies, or property donated or paid to the association.
  6. Keep and record all scores made in all tournaments conducted by the association for at least one-year.
  7. Notify in writing each league secretary of the awards offered by the association.
  8. Maintain a membership list of each league, containing the names and address of each league’s president, secretary and treasurer.
  9. Complete and issue individual, membership cards and league sanction certificates.
  10. Distribute league supplies. Coordinate with the Women’s Local Association a joint workshop for league officers to be schedule the 3rd last week of August if possible.
  11. Maintain an inventory and distribute ABC Award other than high score awards.
  12. Maintain a membership list containing the name and address of each member. Submit to ABC by April 1st , above listings.
  13. Keep an account of all receipts and disbursements and be prepared to report all financial transactions of the association for the previous or current season at the annual meeting of the council.
  14. Maintain a statement of the current financial condition of the association available on request by the president, the council or the board.
  15. Make regular deposits of all monies received in a recognized banking institution in the name of the association subject to withdrawal on the signatures of at least two associations officers.
  16. Be covered by a good and surety bond.
  17. Within 30 day of receipt from the league, submit to ABC the National Portion collected as membership fees, along with the league sanction application.
  18. Shall be co-signer on all association accounts.
  19. Make sure that the association has adequate insurance coverage on all association property.
  20. Maintain and look after all association office equipment.
  21. Prepare and send out final average request to all leagues along with information for yearly association awards. By April 1st of the current season.
  22. Coordinate with the yearbook committee, the associations portion of the annual yearbook, and have it ready for print by the middle of June if possible.

PAST PRESIDENT

The president of the association shall become past president when he has completed his term of office as president. His/hers term shall end when the current president steps down and becomes past president.

DUTIES OF THE PAST PRESIDENT

  1. Be a co-signer of all association account.
  2. Be able to serve in any position that the president shall need him/her for.
  3. Be available to help and advise the president on his/ her duties.

DIRECTORS

There shall be 18 directors of this association, with 6 directors being elected on a yearly basis, with their terms being for 3 years.

DUTIES OF THE DIRECTORS

    1. Attend all board meetings as set by the board of directors
    2. Serve on all committees that they are appointed to attend those committee meetings.
    3. Serve as a league representative as appointed by the board for a specified number of leagues. (i.e.: 5-7 Leagues)
    4. As League representative, visit the leagues that they are assigned to and deliver all supplies and awards that the Association Secretary hands out to them.
    5. Help promote the Awards Banquet and sell tickets if necessary.
    6. Help promote the Local Association Tournament and get teams for the tournament. (It should be the responsibility of each member to recruit at least one team for the tournament.)
    7. Engage in any or all fund raising activities that the association may deem necessary.
    8. All directors will not discuss association board meetings or business outside board meeting or to non board members.
    9. Help the tournament committee when necessary with the local or provincial tournament.
    10. Help the Yearbook committee by recruiting Ads for the yearbook. (It should be the responsibility of each board member to obtain at least one ad for the book.)
